11am on Sunday 24th April both Blythe Fourie & Sarah Jepson lined up on the start line for TriHard's Sprint Distance Duathlon, held on the super fast closed roads of the northeast town of Stockton-on-Tees.
A flat 5k run into a 3 lap 20km bike circuit followed by a 2.5k run may sound easy to some but if you race that distance true then you may think very differently. Both Blythe & Sarah performed well and relative to their current fitness. The Racepace duo finished with a 2nd in AG and a 3rd in AG respectively, as a result - both were very happy with their races.
Later in the day & on virtually the same course (but with more laps), Dionne Allen lined up for the Triathlon England National Standard Distance Duathlon, with a £500 1st prize for both the men and women, competition was sure to be fierce. 'Dee', who came 2nd overall last week at the Skipton Triathlon went one better this week, after executing a superb race she took the overall win, just pipping a fine performance from the strong Preston Harrier athlete - Nicola Jackson.
Dee was obviously proud to become the Triathlon England National Duathlon Champion and is hoping to take this form onto the European Long Course Duathlon Champs in Copenhagen in May.
